Today was the dedication for the Oquirrh Mountain Temple in South Jordan, Utah. Throughout the state of Utah, normal church meetings were cancelled this week so that all could participate in the dedication ceremony for the temple. All those 8 and older were allowed to go - that meant we got to take Kara but not Brooke.
We would have split up and Jeff and Kara were going to go to the morning session and then I was going to go in the afternoon, but thankfully we have some visitors.... Grandma Lopez and Kari came to visit!!! :) Brooke got to sleep in and Jeff & I took Kara. The 3 of us got to go together!
Grandma & Kari have been on a quick tour of St George now... we spent the better part of the afternoon touring around the city and surrounding areas. We went to some church historical sites and went through the visitor's center of the St George temple - both are some of my favorite free activites. Glad they're all open on Sundays!

Brooke loves her life
Brooke told me this morning that she loves her life. What else could make a mom happier?
The girls love their new school and love the routine of mom being around to help out in the afternoons and eating dinner at home every night. We've been going to the farmer's market on Saturdays and have been incorporating a lot more fresh fruits and vegetables into our diets.
Yesterday I was waiting for the girls to come out of their classes and I saw Brooke walking toward me hand-in-hand with her new best friend Bentley (who is a very nice boy). When she got to me, she said, "Mom! Jacob wants me to come over to his house sometime and play!" I asked, "Who's Jacob?" Brooke said, "He's my other new friend, and he slipped me this note while we were in class sitting on the rug with his address!" The note had his phone number and his name and he wrote "To Brooke" on it.... so cute! I asked her if she knew who Jacob was before he gave her the note. She said she didn't know him until then... bold move for a boy so young!
But then I got to thinking - she's holding hands with one boy, and another boy slipped his phone number to her in class.... she is definitely NOT old enough for this!!!!

Happy Anniversary to us! :)
I can't believe it's been 10 years since Jeff and I were married. He's been a wonderful husband and father and we're lucky to have such a happy family!
1st Day of School 2009
I'm not sure how I feel about today - I'm excited that the girls are back in school, but I'm sad too. At least they were both excited to go...
Kara's excited that her teacher won teacher of the year last year for science (one of her favorite subjects) and that she has a wall of books. Brooke's teacher is super sweet and we're excited to see what sorts of things Brooke will be learning.
