The Dress is Done!

Still needs to be ironed, but the dress is done!!! And you'll have to excuse her dazed expression and bed-head, but I put it on her as soon as she woke up so I could upload pictures today from work....
We're getting close to being ready for her baptism ~ hope to see you all there on Tuesday, July 8th at 7pm (in the FV building). :)

Friday the 13th

I don't believe in bad luck on Friday the 13th....

For all you believers who think there is a hex upon this day, a few good things about Friday the 13th:

- I was sealed in the temple on Friday, August 13th. We will have our 9th wedding anniversary this summer. For those who remember stories of tornadoes in Salt Lake that August, I will remind you that the tornado touched down while we were in the Salt Lake temple on Wednesday the 11th. No bad luck there, right? Wedding pictures even came out nicely (the only person who had issues during pictures that day was 7 year old Kari who was chased by bees around the temple grounds).

- My birthday is December 13th and has fallen on Friday the 13th a few times in my life. No bad birthdays so far. :)

- Today is Friday the 13th and nothing terrible has happened to me. In fact, work has been very slow today (so except for boredom at some points, it's been a good day!).

- Also, you can't get much better for a good day than FREE DINNER!!! Hot Dog on a Stick has customer appreciation day tonight from 5-8pm and we will be going for our free hot dog on a stick tonight!

Facebook, Summer TV

I am behind the times (as usual) and just started a Facebook account yesterday. I already found a lot of people I haven't talked to in awhile. It's nice to be able to keep in touch with people so easily and find out what's going on.

I can't wait for the 4th of July when I get to see almost all of my nephews! And I don't have to spend any money on gas to see them! :) Very selfish of me, but we usually travel to Utah to see some of the baby boys and I'm glad we'll get to see them here this time.

We've been watching old episodes of the Alfred Hitchcock Hour the past couple of weeks as timefillers while there hasn't been anything on to watch. It's actually quite good for being 45 years old. Some of the acting is really over the top and funny (and not meant to be), but some are very good.

We were reminiscing yesterday about silly things Kara and Brooke have said in the past... one that I feel is worth mentioning again is when Kara was 2 and stood in front of her bedroom door (that she insisted was closed at all times) and said "Abre! Abre!" and when it wouldn't open "Oh, it's just no use!"

Happy June!

I'm so glad summer is almost here (except for the heat, see below). I can't wait for the kids to get out of school. Now that I know we aren't moving, hopefully we'll be able to transition into a summer routine pretty easily.

I can't wait until the 4th of July when we get to see everyone - hopefully I'll be able to take some time off of work (at least on the 8th) so I can visit with everyone... I'm excited for Ronnie & KaLee to bring Easton and for Mike & Stephanie to bring all their cute boys (especially the little two boys). I can get my fill of little boys so I can appreciate having my girls a little better again.

Brooke & Kara each got a goldfish from the Memorial Day Picnic here by our house. Usually the fish die within a couple of days, but they are both still alive... Kara's fish loves to swim and no matter what hour of the day or night that fish will be swimming. Brooke's fish loves to sit at the bottom of the bowl. I thought it would be gone quickly, but it just is pretty mellow. I guess that somewhat fits the girls' personalities too. Kara named her fish 'Fishy' and Brooke switches between 'Goldie' and 'Lucky'.

Brooke caught a couple of minutes of the MTV Movie awards last night as we were flipping through stations. The part she saw was the Pussycat Dolls performing. It really seemed to catch her attention. When they were done she said "I guess you don't have to be pretty to be a rock star." I'm impressed that she didn't find them to be pretty... she said that she wants to be a rock star and when she is she will be a pretty one. I agree.
