Hot

I miss air conditioning (especially at night). Even though Brooke has skinny little legs that don't weigh anything, they are heat sticks when they rest on you at night. She crawled into bed last night and used me as a foot rest for her left leg and Jeff for her right leg (common sleeping position for her when she comes to our bed). I usually don't mind it because her legs are so light, but it was WAY too hot last night for that.

Happy Mother's Day

Kara & Brooke gave me the best present on Mother's Day - there was not one fight between them. :) They didn't even argue. In fact, they kept practicing what they called 'ball dancing' (which I can only assume to be ballroom dancing).

They also told me a joke:
Question: What is it called when two men are doing the tango together? (at this point I was in shock and wondering where they were going with this and where they could have possibly heard such things)
Answer: The 'Man'-go
When they were done I asked them where they heard that joke - they said that Grandma and Aunt Kari were watching Dancing with the Stars and they heard it on there....

Busy Weekend

Brooke had a field trip on Friday to Tanaka Farm in Irvine. She was really excited to get to see animals on the farm. This was a fruit and vegetable farm. Still fun, but not what was expected. Since I was a parent volunteer I have a couple of pictures to share... Brooke did try the organic fruits & vegetables they had us try, but her favorites were the strawberries and the carrots.





Friday night was our ward talent show - Kara stole the show with her hula hooping (once I can figure out how to load the video from our camera, hopefully I will be able to post it). She surprised everyone by spinning around, walking around, jumping, and staying with the beat of the song while hula hooping. Here are a couple of pictures...




Saturday night we went to the Angels game vs the Mariners - it was a short game (only 2 hrs & 11 minutes).

Another Job Update

I started my new job! I love it! I am looking forward to moving to a new office (we're working out of boxes until we completely move in mid-April). I need to get new pictures of the girls posted - hopefully this weekend.

Kara is in the ward talent show this Friday night, so I will (hopefully) be taking pictures of that and posting - she will be hula hooping to Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape.

Brooke had some dental work done and is currently without a front tooth... she looks extra cute. When I post pictures I will try to post one of her new smile.

We're going to the Angels game this Saturday night and looking forward to spending some time away from the house. Kara's been complaining of boredom and Brooke has created a secret identity for herself (she's now Supergirl, but you are all sworn to secrecy and can't let her know that you know or that I told you). Brooke's gotten extremely goofy lately and been trying to create a laugh wherever possible. I think she sometimes thinks she's on the set of a sitcom and waits for the audience laughter after some of the statements she makes or weird faces she makes.

job update

Jeff did not get the job in Dallas... since it took 2 1/2 months to find that out, we pretty much figured he wouldn't toward the end. We are happy that we don't have to move, but I'm bummed that we won't be on a salary (after 7 years I'm pretty sick of commission).

We had a great time in Utah last weekend. We loved the weather (Jeff and I like cool weather, but it's nice to live where we don't have to ever run the heater). The results of our trip: Jeff and the girls love the Wii. Kara's high score on bowling was 191... Jeff would love to get a Wii now (I wonder if he had to pick between Xbox 360 and Wii which one he'll want to actually get next - my guess is the Xbox)

Utah bound, Blond moment

We're excited to take a break from work at the end of next week to go to Utah for a few days.

Until then, enjoy this little tidbit from a very blond new associate at my work:

My manager was conducting a meeting in which he mentioned that this new associate would need a little help on something since she was still green. Her reply was "Oh, that's true - I love the environment."

I hope nobody from work ever reads this...
